We’re looking for an accomplished Buyer to join our expanding Purchasing Department in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
The Purchasing Department play a crucial role in ensuring that materials and components are ordered and delivered on time. The primary focus of this role is to deliver the company’s purchasing strategy, ensuring sufficiency, quality and value for month. The role also involves building strong relationships with both existing and new suppliers.
Other key functions of the role will include:
- Proactively analysing stock levels against patterns of use to ensure orders are place in good time for continuity of production
- Accurately preparing and raising purchase orders while creating and adhering to order schedules
- Managing any overdue orders and supplier invoice issues, working to resolve them within agreed timescales
- Contributing to contract and SLA negotiations
- Improving prices and terms of business with suppliers
- Building and maintaining good supplier and stakeholder relationships
- Undertaking research and exploring alternative sources for products, services and equipment
- Monitoring and evaluating supplier performance, including conducting supplier site audits
- Ensuring that all systems are fully and accurately updates as required
The ideal candidate will be an assertive and confident purchasing professional with a strong commitment to continuous improvement and quality management, seeking the next step in their career with a market-leading business.
The ideal candidate must also be:
- A qualified Buyer, either by education or experience
- Highly organised with a high level of attention to detail, while being able to successfully manage multiple workstreams
- A strong negotiator with experience of contract negotiation and management
- An excellent communicator with experience of working with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficient with MS Excel, in particular data analysis functions such as VLOOKUP and the creation and manipulation of pivot tables
- A confident problem solver and multitasker
- Prepared to travel to the Far East, North America and across Europe as required
- Experienced working in a time-critical manufacturing or engineering environment (preferable)
In-house training will be given in all aspects of BM Catalysts products, manufacturing, current suppliers and contracts.
